Easy One-Pot Taco Pasta Recipe (Ready in 30 Minutes!)
Step 4: Add the Tomatoes and Broth
Pour the diced tomatoes and their juices into the pot. Add the optional green chiles, beef broth, and water.
Stir well, scraping the bottom of the pan to loosen any flavorful browned bits. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
Taste the liquid before adding extra salt. Taco seasoning and broth may already contain enough sodium, especially if you use regular-sodium products.
Step 5: Stir in the Pasta
Add the uncooked pasta directly to the pot and stir thoroughly so the noodles are distributed throughout the liquid.
Reduce the heat to medium-low and maintain a gentle simmer. Cover the pot partially with a lid and cook for approximately 10–14 minutes, stirring every 2–3 minutes to prevent sticking.
The exact cooking time depends on the pasta shape and brand. Check the package instructions and begin testing the pasta a few minutes before the expected finish time.
If the liquid becomes too low before the pasta is tender, add a little more hot water or broth, about ¼ cup at a time.
Step 6: Check the Pasta and Adjust the Sauce
Once the pasta is tender but still holds its shape, remove the lid and check the consistency.
The sauce should be thick enough to coat the noodles without becoming dry. If the mixture looks too watery, simmer uncovered for another 1–2 minutes, stirring frequently.
If the pasta has absorbed too much liquid, add a small splash of broth or water and stir until the sauce reaches your preferred consistency.
Remember that the sauce will thicken slightly as the dish rests.
